“Trey, did you see the crowd, man? They were going crazy!” I exclaimed as I wiped my forehead with my signature white towel.
My adrenaline was running wild, oozing out of my system as I rushed into the dressing room. Tonight was just supposed to be a quick two-to-three song performance to see how the crowd was going to react to my single “Check Me Out,” produced by Denim, the resident DJ of Club Ice.
After being in the business so long, you know when to keep going and giving the crowd what they want, and you also know to throw in the towel and get your ass off the stage!
Tonight, the crowd was loving the show! They were singing along to all of my hits. The only reason why I stopped was because I knew I was going to have an early morning, and like most celebrities, I didn’t do well in the morning. It was already 3:18 a.m., and our hotel was a good thirty minutes away. If I didn’t shut the show down, there was no telling when I was going to be able to sleep!
Trey nodded his head, grinning from ear to ear. He leaned in, giving me a one-shoulder hug.
Trey was my road manager/best friend. Me and this dude have been through hell and high water together, but through everything, he was still on my side.
“‘Check Me Out’ about to go platinum, you know that, right?” Trey said handing me a bottle of water. “That beat was already sick as hell, but after you laced it with your flow . . . Man, the world is not ready! Now, this is how you get back into the game. We just got to make sure that all the singles that are released between now and the dropping of the album are all headbangers as well.”
I took a swig from the bottle and nodded in agreement. “Yo, what time are we heading out?” I asked, glancing down at my platinum Gucci watch.
“You can’t leave before I introduce you to my friends,” Denim interrupted, coming into the dressing room. He turned to the door and signaled for someone to come in.
“Yea, man, I am beat!” I informed him, grabbing my cell phone off the table. “My godkids are coming in the morning, and I promised them I was taking them shopping for their birthday.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, Denim’s friends trickled into the room. I reached out and shook hands with the guys that came in and hugged the females as Denim ran down a list of introductions.
I know that I would not be here if it wasn’t for the fans, but moments like these I wish I could just wiggle my nose and disappear. I continued on with my fake salutations until this fine-ass sister sauntered up to me. There was something about her so damn familiar. Once she gained eye contact with me, she did not break it until she was right up in my face.
“Hi, my name is Joyclyn, and these are my girls, Simone and Tasha,” she informed me in a soft, seductive tone. “Do you remember me?” she asked in a low tone extending her right hand out to me.
Once she told me her name, I knew exactly why this girl seemed familiar.
Do I remember her? Hell, yeah, I do! I thought to myself, running my tongue lightly over my thick lips. I remembered that she was the only woman to make my toes curl as she sucked my dick! I do remember that one.
“Yes, ma’am, I do remember you,” I informed her. “I met you during a performance at the Staple Center in L.A., correct?” I asked glancing over at Trey.
He released a short chuckle under his breath and shook his head. I had a rule about groupies that I slept with. They had to be gone before morning! Jocelyn was no exception! After she put me to sleep, literally, Trey politely removed her and her belongings from my room before the sun rose. The next day we laughed at how she damn near fought him to stay, but it was a losing battle.
“Well, I’m glad that you do,” Joyclyn said glancing over her shoulder at her homegirls. “What are you about to do? You want to go and grab a bite to eat and catch up?”
Joyclyn looked me dead in the eyes as if she was trying to hypnotize me. Denim caught on and quickly hurried over to interject.
“Joy, JL is tired. We’ve been up working nonstop for the past two weeks. How ’bout we set something up so that you can come by the studio or something before he leaves? Is that cool?”
I shot Denim a grateful look and promised Jocelyn that I was going to see her again before I left town.
“All right, folks, I’m out,” I announced, getting up. Trey handed Jocelyn his card, and we followed Big Mike, my security guard, out the door.
