Synopsis:

“It’s not fair”, she thought to herself, leaning her face against the cool glass of the truck window. “They had no right to say that stuff about me.” She put her hand over her face so she could pretend that she wasn’t crying.

“How was the show?” Jessica’s mother asked, after the horses had been unloaded and the Jessica had made her way up to the house alone. “I thought everyone was coming in for dinner.”

“It was OK,” Jessica said, shrugging. “They all just wanted to go home. Kristin’s waiting for her dad at the barn.” Before her mother could say anything else Jessica ran upstairs and slammed the door.
