Excerpt:
Cold Pillows Near Morning
Crisp smoke angels billow on the horizon.
Morning dew belly dances on windshields,
And I desire you to lie here just a little while longer.
Contort your frame into a spoon and scoop me on the cusp of nightmares.
Be my dream catcher,
And meet my mouth with the Ceylon of your lips.
Melt away the glacial chip that magically appears on my shoulder in your absence.
When I roll over and stroke emptiness with the palms of my hands.
Teach me a thing or two.
Like how to make wishes on the eyelashes sashaying on my cheek.
Maybe for our love to spring eternal.
Teach me how to replay the Me’Shell of your movement in my mind’s eye so I won’t be swallowed by agitation.
I’ve always been used to the solitude I carry with me like a battle scar from lost wars with love.
I’m just hoping this time…
When cockcrow beckons and my skin meets a cold pillow,
It is only fleeting.
And when night falls you will be back…
Like you never left.
