Tom Fool & Three More by Robert Covelli
Synopsis:
Contemporary fiction at its finest, Tom Fool and its three companion stories are profoundly moving tales. They’re emotional. They’re insightful. They’re compassionate. The book has been praised by editors who were unwilling to take the risk of publication in today’s market, but the title piece has been compared to the Celestine Prophecies. These four pieces dramatize the inner lives, the ironies and conflicts of people we all know. The stories savor our dreams and point to possibilities, to fulfillment and joy!

I write because the ageless wisdom inspires me; because the years of our common task have seen the spread of wish into everyday souls and from there into political empowerment, which is, of course, the very task; and because the story that I’ve finally decided to tell illustrates the broad dissemination, the spread, as of warmth, as of water, of power into wisdom, O ultimate!

Well, my articles of faith are obvious, and maybe that’s why I compromised them so easily. But stop a moment and clear your mind. Don’t you define reality in terms of your good feelings, acknowledging your depressions and tantrums by calling yourself a sceptic, leaving yourself a margin of error? Don’t you get out of bed because you take the reality of the world for granted, and isn’t that your faith?
Well, I do, and there’s more…
